Women love jewels! If you don't love jewels, you may love photographs.

This is a story of two photographers that met in Africa through Addis Foto Fest 2014. We have been working together over a year now, while putting one African image side to side to a European one, we exclaimed "so similar, but different!". Netsanet is the African version of Raffaela: both are research pharmacists and artists.

Dr. Raffaela directs this project in Europe, Netsanet is our African project leader.

We aim to do cultural exchanges to present our joint work in Africa and in Europe.

We have paired eight color photographs. They evoke a cycle of life.

Natural barriers as water and societal boundaries as walls were described thousands of years ago. Now we are living exclusion, migration, integration and reforming of massive groups. Now we live in a time of sensation seeking driven by digital revolution and integration of new techniques. Tomorrow our images may change content, order or pairing, but now it’s the time to elicit a meaning about how relative time and space is, and how fundamentally contrasts and earth powers in mankind attract us.

Our goals is to reach a mixed public of all age and gender. Our long-term goal is to provide a fertile ground for contact making and discussions in educating science and art. Through visual communication we include science, democracy, contemporary themes and a respect for traditions and cultural diversity.

Con il mio alter ego di Addis Abeba, una ragazza di nome Netsanet, siamo in contatto da oltre un anno. Siamo entrambe farmaciste di ricerca, ma ci siamo conosciute grazie al Addis Foto Fest 2014. Mettendo un'immagine Africana accanto a quella Europea abbiamo esclamato "così simile, ma diverso!". Così è nato un dialogo effervescente tra Addis e Zurigo.

Vorremmo organizzare un'esposizione che si chiama "WAX & GOLD" (it. cera e oro). Presentando 10 foto a colori accoppiate, scattate prima che ci conoscessimo, rappresentiamo due ottiche di un ciclo di vita, nascita negli anni 80, limiti e partenze. Al centro dello spazio si trovano i gioielli in bronzo, creati a mano secondo l'antica tradizione della cera persa (perciò wax & gold). I gioielli richiamano l'attenzione al presenta ma anche all'usanza di tramandare un valore che oltrepassa le culture e la generazione attuale.

Questo è un progetto indipendente, con un budget definito ed un piano d'organizzazione sviluppato. Vorremmo raggiungere un pubblico misto, composto da Europei, immigrati e Africani. Siamo quindi alla ricerca di un luogo idoneo in Europa e ad Addis Abeba.
